So I'm on the Ball with a spot of Downloading to round off the Day!

What Will you Do With That Freedom!

Looking forward to the Euro Finals and have sought out my Roost for the whole event and it’s going to be the Claddagh Ring in Hendon where I spent some really Quality time with others of the Irish Persuasion and Friends who had assembled there. Moments like a last minute Equalizer against Germany, Last Minute Penalty Scored against Spain and a complete Blowout in the resulting Penalty Shootout. Magic Stuff and all the ingredients are there for more of the same with Ireland pitched as complete outsiders in a Group with Spain, Italy and Croatia. Whatever happens thats 3 teams who will have to earn a Victory and ultimately as long as they make a better effort than England I’ll be happy enough. I honestly believe Ireland will emerge from this group and Face that Old Celtic favourite “Glorious Defeat” in the Second Phase!

everclear - world of noise [320]

Everclear finally released this album in 1993 after it had being doing the rounds as a Tape sold at concerts. It was sold at the time as Americana described as a mixture of country and Punk music. Highlights for me are ''Fire Maple Song'' and ''Loser Makes Good''. Its still a big favourite with me and infact gave it a Spin last night!.

United At Last By Apathy!

Are you feeling Austere Dear, I know I am as the Cavalry has not arrived and my Finances are now below £1 give or take 5p. The Fine People of Ireland have a Referendum Today over the Acceptance or not of the latest EU Austerity Package with Sinn Fein leading the No Campaign. That’s where my Vote would go as Austerity seems to only affect the Working Man whilst the Banks and the Rich continue to Plunder. Anyhow enough Politics for today as the only Hat I’m going to be throwing in the Ring will be up in Starbucks in my Campaign to Secure one of the Armchairs. I know what you’re thinking how can my Budget stretch to afford Coffee, well my Youngest Son Declan has just offered to lend me £5….. Truly My Cup Runneth Over!

Notes From The Edge!

It is easy for me to be Oblivious to just how long I have been Enduring a particular Challenge but with a great deal of Certainty I would say it is now over 4 Weeks since I received any Money from Anywhere. The last Week and a Half I’ve been down to a few £££’s in my Pocket most of the time and I Hate the idea of having to ask for Help. Anyhow I shouldn’t have to as I think this Week should see me get a Good amount of Money from 2 Sources…. Or maybe not anyway the Show Will Go On Regardless.

Also I’ve been reading through my Blogs from the last 5 Months [since I left Work] to try and gain a Perspective on my Progress and also it allows me to see Recurring Themes. Blogging is helping me Massively and although some of what I’ve been seeing is not Good I still know that I’m Miles from the Emotional Holocaust [No Over-reaction] of the previous 3 Years………. God Is Good!

wreckless eric - greatest stiffs [320]

Belfast 1977 a Hard Station for anyone to Endure. Still we carried on as best we could and launched head first into the glory of Punk Rock. After years of Neglect and Musical Starvation by established artists who would book to play in Belfast then pull out at the last minute citing Fears for their Safety we where treated to the arrival of Punk Bands from the UK. Famously the Clash but a lot more often and in his own Unique Style Wreckless Eric would show up play his set and leave us all feeling much the richer for the Experience!

Life Beyond The Pail!

Staying out of the Sun Today as i have the Skin Of an Irishman which for Clarity I would say is much like that of an Albino. Already after only a couple of Sublime Hot Days I've been reduced to an Annoying state of Itchy Heat Rash with a Possible Outbreak of Boils to my Shoulders and Neck. Ok so the Boils isn't true but I do Love being out in the Sunshine and feel Devastated that I can't Enjoy it for Long. Ok Devastated isnt true either as I'm Cool Calm and Neglected up here In Barnet with a Grand Meditation and Walk under my belt already today and the Promise of some good Company later I'm Sorted!

bettye lavette - tell me a lie

Soul diva Bettye LaVette recorded this album for Motown in 1982. Critically acclaimed at the time of its release but largely ignored by the Punters until very recently. Believe me "Tell Me A Lie" sounds as fresh today as it did when originally released. Bettye Lavette's Massive Voice is just full of that good old raw Emotion!

1. Right in the Middle (Of Falling in Love)
2. Either Way We Lose
3. Suspicions
4. You Seen One, You Seen 'Em All
5. I Heard It Through the Grapevine

I hadn't realised that we where going to Live like Rednecks or potential Guests on the Jeremy Kyle Show or even Casualties in a Mass Shooting. That's my Sunny Outlook on Events and Like a Good Addict I'm Wondering Firstly Exactly how is this going to Effect Me....... I'm off to Starbucks!

otis redding - otis blue [320]

Trickle Down Ignorance!

Just spent a Torturous Hour and a Half with a Sponsee trying to Persuade him to do his Step 4 and the reasons behind the Need to do it and also the Massave Benefits he can expect as a result of doing it. Needless to say there is not a 1% chance that it will be done anytime soon and all I got for my effort was a sort of Mantra which seemed to consist of "Iknow Iknow Iknow". I doubt that he knows but am 100% certain he will find out. I'm not Digging him out by the way he's a Good Man and is only doing exactly what I would do in his position. What we're trying to do is move to a position of Not Knowing a much Healthier State of Affairs for an Addict. For myself when I arrived in Recovery I knew everything...... what was Best for You, how the World needed to be Run, who where the Good People and who where the Assholes etc etc etc now I know next to nothing and have not even got much of a clue as to what is best for me!

Alcoholism In A Nutshell!

I worked out that it takes 45 mins to Walk Across Beautiful Country Side to a Lunchtime AA Meeting in Mill Hill from my house so I give myself 55 mins just to give myself enough time to get there. However I always arrive 10 mins late for the last several months. I’ve decided today that it actually takes 65 mins to walk there. Will this knowledge make me leave any earlier probably not until it becomes a matter of Li and Death...........back in the day if this was the route to the Pub I’d have had the timings down to the second after the First Trip!

OMD - Dazzle Ships [320]

OMD Dazzle Ships what can i say i guess you had to be there. Panned by the critics ignored by the Pblic. I rate it as part of the movement away from New Wave and into Synthesisers. Make no mistake these Scousers where direct descendents of Punk Rock.

Technology...It's All Just Shit To Me!

Robin Gibb Dead, Donna Summer Dead, Cliff Richard is 109.......Bad week for 70’s Disco fans and Music Fans. So the good news around here has got to be thee splendid weather it’s enough to make an Irish Man melt. I’m gonna be out all day enjoying it as compensation for the torturous few weeks I’ve been having trying to sort out my finances which by the way remain Flat Lining. No Odds as they say life goes on and I will be up at my Post at Tomorrow Night’s AA Meeting and do hope my Speaker turns up. The Man doing it is about 50 years Sober and unfortunately can’t remember what happened yesterday but is up to speed on the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80, and 90’s. If he forgets to turn up it will have to be Plan B which doesn’t exist just now so it will be a spot of improvisation. Anyhow got zero band width here so will upload 2 albums tomorrow to make up for today!

Wizzard - Wizzard Brew [320]

I guess a big give away to my age is the fact that when this album was released i thought it was the Dogs Bollocks. Still today the first bars of ''See My Baby Jive'' and ''Angel Fingers'' still raise my Spirits plus it contains one of the finist Xmas Songs of all time. Looking back on Glam Rock as a Good Experience for myself the only query i have is why the bands where made up of Thirty something Males singing to and about Teenagers?. This fact and Mr Glitter aside unless Roy Wood creeps onto a Register near you i am going to continue to see him as a major part of my early Musical Learning and a damn fine musician. PS ''Ball Park Incident'' still does it for me!

Keeping It Real!

Got all my Correspondence together and bringing it up to Starbucks to try and get a view of the way ahead. I’ve been struggling a bit trying to keep the Insecurity at bay and haven’t read my Post  other than to acknowledge who they’re from. So I got One from Work, Two from Housing Benefit, Two from the Housing Department and Two from the DHSS. Without reading them or the use of a Crystal Ball they will be Work outlining what happened at our last Meeting and covering their arse, HB telling me my award and looking for more info, Housing will be Two Threats and the DHSS will be saying I’m getting nothing. So a Jolly good read awaits me and out of this Ream of Half Truth’s I have to stay calm and come up with a Plan to Secure my Income as best I can....It’s like Chess a game by the way I’m not very fond of!

Just found something to Watch tonight to keep my Spirits up I'm not sure if its a True Story or not. Anyway it's called Osombie and I took it from here http://www.mediafire4u.com .It had to happen really Zombies Meet Muslim Fundamentalism, so just join the files together with HJ Split [a free program] and Enjoy!

There Is No Dog!

That's my day as a Pundit over I never really knew that Hibs where such utter Shite and that Bayern Munich despite having all the chances to win would Squander all of them and lose a game they dominated...At Least Leinster did their bit. In fact I'm reconsidering the Bet I was putting on my Buddy Sean that he would Relapse before Christmas and putting the money instead on one of his Sponsees which although giving shorter odds are at least Racing Certainties. Just need to check first that he is still giving them 2nd rate advice then it's game on. I know some people think this is dishonest and a bit like playing with loaded Dice but I need the Money ASAP. All Jokes aside I'm out here dressed for the Summer we were promised I'm sure they said it would be 21 degrees put it's about 12 degrees as far as I can tell but what do I know I'm Dyslexic!

Christy Moore - Smoke & Strong Whiskey

One of Irelands finest folk singers a Man of Principle he has song songs to highlight the plight of Oppressed People the World over. Check out all his other albums as well as this is a mellow example of his work. Also his albums whilst in Moving Hearts truely great stuff. Top song for me ''No Time For Love When They Come In The Morning'' about the abuses of authority used against the Catholic Population of Northern Ireland by the British forces of occupation. Top line in that being ''they tell us who suffered the tear gas and torture that we're in the wrong'' Hear Hear Christy sing on.

'Tiobraid Árann' [The Well of the Arra]

Just been to the Funeral of one of AA's finest a Lovely Lady who has been a Humble Servant for over 30 years and as that was the case the Attendance was massive. A proper old fashioned Irish Send Off was given to this Daughter Of Erin who came originally from Tipperary. It was a joy to see so many Friends and Fellow Travellers today and an all round an Enriching Experience... Last time I was at that Chapel was for another Funeral attended by a lot of the same Crew including the Deceased.... Do hope I don't need to go back for quite some time at least for a Funeral!

cooper temple clause - see this through and leave

The title of the album comes from a lyric in the track "Murder Song". The cover give 'thanks' to Five and Westlife "for their ongoing financial support" a humorous reference to the fact that The Cooper Temple Clause shared a record label with the two popular Boy Bands [at least with little girls], who could be seen to have helped finance this album.

Progress not Perfection!

This has got to be the Poorest [Money Wise] I've been in Years I'm now down to Single Figures £6.87p to be exact but who's counting but hopefully the Cavalry will arrive soon. On other fronts though things have very Seldom been better I'm full steam ahead Recovery wise and did my first week as Secretary of the Local AA last night. Today I stepped in for My friend Sean as Secretary as he's off allegedly so he has told everyone to have an Operation on his Bell End, but in a rare outbreak of Honesty he told me in strictest Confidence he was really having a Stoke City Tattoo removed but was to Ashamed to tell anyone.....!

leonard cohen - death of a ladies' man

A true Living Legend Leonard Cohen had this record produced by Mad as a Shithouse Rat Living Legend Phil Spector. The results are hard to gauge but still solid as a rock and you gotta love the Emotion of "Don't Go Home with Your Hard-on". For the best Cohen experience its got to be the ‘’I’m your man’’ album. My ex wife loves Leonard Cohen and i still love her.

Flushed With Success!

Pressure has finally been eased off my shoulders as I’ve been given Notification of what Money I’m Entitled to and so can at least make a few plans especially about getting over to Ireland to see the Folks. I’m going to recommit tomorrow to Meditation as although I never stopped the Practice it was getting a bit shoddy and I believe I wouldn’t have Survived the last 6 Weeks of Uncertainty and Lack of Money in reasonably good shape if I hadn’t been using all the Tools the Fellowship gives me but especially Meditation. Simply put there is no Fear or Worry in this Moment so the more time you spend there the better you Feel and the less Stressful Existence this brings about is loaded with Possibilities!

jake burns - drinkin' again

Solo release from Stiff Little Fingers front man Jake Burns has several Irish Ballads on it you can decide if they are any good as i am not saying anything negative about this Belfast Living Legend. It's My Party And I'll Emote If I Want To!

Learned a very valuable thing in AA [sorry many valuable things] which is that if your Emotions are really Dictated by Others then you are well and truly Fucked in this Life. With that in Mind may I just say I've had another truly Soul Sapping encounter with the Housing Benefit people. I was Meditated to the hilt on arrival and maintained a Dignified Calm until I had to Fight back against Two Representatives of the Dark Side who was being Supremely Unhelpful and Derogatory well beyond the call of Duty. Located by Fluke [is that Odd or is that God] the only Human Being Residing in that Unhealthy Environment who I believe will try his utmost to get me the £750 I'm entitled to despite his Comrades best Efforts to Cheat me. I'm a good judge of Character and could tell he was approaching my case the way I always did when helping Clients and that is to pursue their Rights and Entitlements as if they where my own.
Anyhow as my Emotions are not Dictated by Others I was able to wish them all a Cheery Goodbye on my way out and will now get on with the day...Which by the way is my Birthday Old Taurus Boy is another Year Older and Infinitely wiser!

mungo jerry - electronically tested [320]

The Struggle Continues!

After all the Exileration of that Fantastic finish to the Soccer Season i was brought crashing back to Earth with a Soul Destroying Visit to the DHSS. To cut a long story short they have agreed to pay me from Today not back dated to the 4th of April when I applied for Income Support. That may be how they see it but I'll be Resisting as usual but I've done the Maths and I'm about £300 in Arrears and can live with that regardless. What I can't Accept and will need to Meditate long and hard on was watching them Support and Hand Out Money to Inbred Bastards who have never worked a day in their Lives. I know this is not a widely held Socalist view of my Fellow Travellers but I'm Upset and Pennyless which Causes Fear which Causes Anger and I'll be Fine Tomorrow!

tenpole tudor - eddie old bob dick and gary [160]

Headed back to Ireland in 1981 after a couple of years in England land of Eddie Tenpole who legend has it is a direct decendant of Henry VIII [A right old bastard if there ever was one]. Second legend was that Malcolm McLaren had his eye on Eddie Tenpole as a replacement for Sex Pistols troublesome front man Johnny Rotten. Anyway Wunderbar!.

Cheer Me Up!

One last effort required by thee Arsenal to secure that all important Champions League spot and rescue a pretty average campaign. I’m going to watch it all unfold and enjoy the drama of the last fixtures of the season. In Scotland the Huns where buried months ago so Celtic have been home and dry for months. As for The Mighty Stoke????
In true Addict style I’ve seriously overdone the amount of Meditation MP3’s, Drgs, Apps, Programmes, Affiirmations, Healing, Chimes, Timers, Guide Books, Binaurals, Hemi-Syncs, Holophonics, Hypnosis, Subliminals etc etc etc and if not brought back to basics I may very well self destruct. So about 80% will have to go ASAP so I can get down to what works for me which is usually something really simple but effective.... I’ll let you know what I am using and where to get hold of it!

Peace In Our Time!

Its good it’s all good the Sun is out and so will I be as soon as I’ve written this. No real plan just a bit of a Walk and a spot of Meditation Practice to Maintain Serenity. Scrap that Maintain Milarkie let’s go for Spiritual Growth as that’s what’s been Happening. Got tracked down by a very Distressed Sponsee last night on my way Home and the Scenario he Painted of his Life was a Mirror Reflection of how I Lived and Felt everyday for Years... Not today though thank God,thank Allah and Special thanks to Buddah. Encouraged the Lad to crack on with his Step work as the Vital thing to do but he looked extremely Dubious about this course of action. I know it’s the only route to take to bring about the change required to gain Emotional Balance let’s hope he does and can summon the Courage to get on with the Task at hand!

wolfe tones - rifles of the IRA

Wolfe Tones were standard issue listening to most of Catholic Belfast. The album is not as contriversial as the name suggests and features some great ballads. Some history Theobald Wolfe Tone and Henry Joy McCracken met at McArts Fort on the Cavehill to form the United Irishmen and to take an oath to launch the Rebellion of 1798. Both were executed after the rebellion was defeated. Used to go there every week as a teenager and look down on the whole of Belfast City.

March To A Different Drum!

Made an Executive decision and gave the DHSS a Body Swerve this morning and decided to invest my time in something more worthwhile, namely a long walk. My Self Esteem would probably rather risk Death by Starvation than spending even a minute in the Soul destroying Ambiance of the Job Centre also I want to give a listen to some Binaural Beats I Plundered from the World Wide Web yesterday from a firm called I-Doser. Sorry to say it as I’m now an accepted Spiritual Giant but I Ransacked the lot. So the Stroll will be accompanied by Sounds with the Intriguing names of “Quick Happy , “Hand of God” and “Out Of Body. Knowing my luck that second one is probably a left hook and a couple of combinations, got no real expectations about their effectiveness but if you don’t hear from me again I will definitely be in Tir Na Nog. When I finally get down the Rock n roll on Monday “Crystal Meth”, “Acid” and “LSD” will be on the Playlist with an additional one held back for Emergency First Aid should I require it “Happy Facial Expression”. Was going to bring “Orgasm” up to Starbucks with me but I’m riding my luck on their Broadband already and don’t want it to get any Messier!
