I Recoiled From Their Old War Stories, As From A Hot Flame!

Did my talk at the AA meeting and must be on the right track [I hope] as 3 of the Punters left when I was speaking which is usually a good sign for me. Focused the talk purely on recovery which seemed fitting as it was billed as a Step Meeting. As they shuffled out it does hurt the old pride but they need to protect their position as we all do, theirs has to do with Alcohol being the problem and mine is that Alcohol was my solution to the problem. This is probably the most entrenched conflict within AA with both parties sticking to their own ethos and area, and really only meeting like last night when someone strays into the others territory to do the talk. Good news is that most stayed and I could tell where engaged and if not enjoying at least benefiting from the experience. Maybe just maybe I planted a seed, that who knows could one day take root in one of their Scones which gets them thinking that perhaps there is more to this recovery business than the 24/7 Father Jack impersonation it has become!
