Sponsor duty today with the task of getting a man to take Steps and Actions he has no Faith in, sounds a tough ask I hear you say. Not really as hopefully he knows he has no choice and although these 3 Steps today [that’s the aim] are theoretical and require very little action and if completed will show Willingness/Desperation to continue!
All has been stripped down by the 12 Step Heretic that I am to the essentials and to make it as easy as possible for my man with 1&2 relating to Step 1, 3 relating to Step 2 and 4&5 relating to Step 3
1. Are You Powerless Over Alcohol /Drugs? Yes/No [explain what that means to you?].
2. Is Your Life Unmanageable [by you]? Yes/No [explain what that means to you?].
3. Do You Now Believe Or Are You Willing To Come To Believe That Taking These Steps Can Remove From Your Life The Insanity Of Picking Up? Yes/No [explain what that means to you?].
4. Are You Ready To Make A Decision To Do Step 4 And The Rest Of The Programme?
5. Formal Short Prayer To Seal The Deal.
If he’s Willing/A Desperado this can be completed in an hour. Sadly if he is Unwilling/Dishonest it could take several Lifetimes. If he is not going to give it a go he will not complete thee above at any cost and I guess I can go back to Starbucks and I’m pretty sure he will be able to find his own way back to the Pub!
