Now then to the real Comedy issue I may have [did] accidently [on purpose] let my beautiful ex Anna read what I wrote in February after we had met up and had a coffee. Obviously i am playing the Charity card a bit early in the game but my Self Esteem is struggling to get much above zero. Plus not much to offer in the way of Security as I am still AWOL [oh yes] from work. The one big thing in my favour is that she was definitely looking for me yesterday when we met up and she doesn't know my blog address. So this is between just you and me unless utter desperation sets in and i show her it sometime early next week I’d say!
This blog is just to let the world know what’s been rocking my boat over the years [comes with a certain Irish bias and interesting world view]. If your struggling at the game of life like the rest of us try and remember there’s always music!

sigue sigue sputnik - dress for excess [256]
The leader of this fine bunch of folks once said that he wanted a band which contained all the elements of Suicide, Eddie Cochran, Elvis, Donna Summer and a few others.....Mission accomplished as this is equally wonderful and down right strange!

Let Me Through I Am An Alcoholic In Recovery!
Yesterday an Alcoholic misfit today gives advice to others on how to live. Don’t ring true does it? And by God it’s not! The problem is that the last thing to go in an Alkie is the Ego and it’s the first thing to return once sober, usually by express delivery. The posturing and opinions don’t bother me until their attention focuses on me and what they believe to be helpful advice begins. What I hear is best expressed as an equation.
1 Guru + Month x 6
Tells
1 Unenlightened + Month x 302
How they will be living when they are Month x 302 which can also be expressed as 26 years and a bit. Basically from what I have gleaned from their extensive knowledge on the subject is that I am misguided and do everything wrong and they will be on the ball by that stage and have transcended the Human condition.
It’s all Academic really as I already know where they’ll be in Month 302, 301, 300, 299 etc, etc, etc and that will be in a Pine Box or propping up a bar somewhere.
There is hope they could also have a complete Psychic change which will bring about an end to advice giving and maybe just maybe Month 302 can be spent with me in the Real World... of course by then I will be in month 598!

Fight The Power!
Was sharing at length up at a meeting last night and after was asked to do a chair at a notorious Big Book Steps in a day meeting and like a snivelling shit I agreed. Instantly regretted saying yes as I really don’t agree with what they do and know there’s no point in going there and expressing my disease as they’ll just think poor sick bastard. So maybe I could get out of it by changing my phone as they have my number or I could stop going to all meetings again, or if worst comes to the worst I could go back on the piss. All joking aside really should have said at the time in the Spirit of Fellowship “Go And Get Fucked”!
blue aeroplanes - friendloverplane [192]
1988 album by a really cool band and an incredible live band. I'm a bit vague here about the track listing as i think it has more tracks and as for content i'm pretty sure its a compilation album of b sides. thats my knowledge exhausted!

james carr - a man needs a woman [160]
Lesser known than some of the other 60's Soul singers but can hold his own with the best of them. I really like this album esp[ecially the title track "A Man Needs a Woman" and the final ditty "You've Got My Mind Messed Up" both are excellent!

keith moon - two sides of the moon [192]
Worthy because he was a god and an excentric of the highest order this is the only solo album from Keith Moon. Rather than using the album as a chance to showcase his legendary drumming ski he sings on all the songs, and play drums only on "Crazy Like a Fox", "The Kids Are Alright" and "Move Over Ms. L". The album features contributions from Ringo Starr, Harry Nilsson, David Bowie, Joe Walsh, John Sebastian, Flo & Eddie, The Turtles, Spencer Davis, Dick Dale, and Patti Quatro.

Do You Come This Way often!
I was walking up on Totteridge Common yesterday and met a man out walking through the fields and may i say it’s not normal around London to talk to anyone you meet. We just keep our heads down and march on until the embarrassment passes at this uncivilised behaviour. Anyhow I said hello and so did he and I could tell instantly that he was also Irish after a banter about the weather we got into a heavy conversation about Politics, Changing Times and Loss. The Man has suffered and out of the blue he says “if you’re talking recovery I used to be a raging Alcoholic” we hadn't been but were now. Turns out he’s been sober 33 years but stopped going to meetings years ago but he said he still missed them. Invited him down to Mill Hill Thursday Lunch Time AA, he said what if he bored us all and I assured him that position has already been filled. As this Serendipitous encounter cannot have been an accident there’s a fair change he may turn up if not at Mill Hill then somewhere!

Keep It To Yourself!
Would it be alright to say to a fellow human being who whinges a lot that he doesn’t have an Inferiority Complex he is actually Inferior? Guess not and mores the pity as it could serve him as Enlightenment. Thankfully I’ve reduced my overall whinging by about 95% which doesn’t leave a great deal to moan about. All that righteous indignation and justified anger at my shoddy treatment nearly put an end to me and I know for a fact never caused those it was aimed at to lose even a minutes sleep. If I could just remember the details of those grudges and vendettas which I held close to my heart for so long I guess maybe they could be reemployed....but not today as i will be out in glorious sunshine doin’ a bit of walking and xcompasionate meditation to keep those ever close resentments out of my consciousness !
rilo kiley - initial friend [160]
First release by the band it is touted as an EP and if it is one its the bloody longest i've heard. This band only got more popular not necessarily better after this release. it's good in an Indie/Rock sort of way and all of their output is very satisfing to the likes of me!

move - BBC sessions [1967-68] [256]
That Roy Wood really is a handsome guy its a wonder he bothered wearing all that make up and big hair. also he has a very big place in my heart full of his Wizzard Glam period and the shear joy i was having being a kid. Also the move are a bit under rated in my opinion!

Misery Is Optional!
The source of all man’s problems is his inability to sit quietly in a room by himself so someone may have once said or something like that at least. I did this for three years venturing out only to Starbucks or to take my Woes for a walk, oh yeah I also went to work. Sure I came away enlightened at least i gained the knowledge that I didn’t like my life. Enough discomfort was amassed to make even me become Willing to Change. Change what? The whole Fucking lot I’d say!
slade - nobody's fools [128]
First album by Slade to not be in the UK top ten and caused some of the Glam boys to accuse them of selling out, but not me! oh know i just seen a more mature sound coming from a more mature band!

Less Is More!
Got no Money got no Relationship and if I have a say there won’t be a job soon either. Counter balance all that with a level of Acceptance and Peace not felt in years by yours truly. There has to be a connection in all of this and as Bill Hicks once profoundly quipped “Kid’s aren’t stupid, you never see one with a Job or a Mortgage”... Well he said something like that!
showaddywaddy - step two [320]
I used to really like the old Glam Rock and these boys where a constant chart act throughout the 1970's until finally being put to death by Punk. This is dated now but i still like it it's got some fine tracks admittedly they are covers but there's a good original [i think] Christmas song and i do like my Christmas songs!

damned - music for pleasure [320]

From Little Acorns!
Sponsor duty today with the task of getting a man to take Steps and Actions he has no Faith in, sounds a tough ask I hear you say. Not really as hopefully he knows he has no choice and although these 3 Steps today [that’s the aim] are theoretical and require very little action and if completed will show Willingness/Desperation to continue!
All has been stripped down by the 12 Step Heretic that I am to the essentials and to make it as easy as possible for my man with 1&2 relating to Step 1, 3 relating to Step 2 and 4&5 relating to Step 3
1. Are You Powerless Over Alcohol /Drugs? Yes/No [explain what that means to you?].
2. Is Your Life Unmanageable [by you]? Yes/No [explain what that means to you?].
3. Do You Now Believe Or Are You Willing To Come To Believe That Taking These Steps Can Remove From Your Life The Insanity Of Picking Up? Yes/No [explain what that means to you?].
4. Are You Ready To Make A Decision To Do Step 4 And The Rest Of The Programme?
5. Formal Short Prayer To Seal The Deal.
If he’s Willing/A Desperado this can be completed in an hour. Sadly if he is Unwilling/Dishonest it could take several Lifetimes. If he is not going to give it a go he will not complete thee above at any cost and I guess I can go back to Starbucks and I’m pretty sure he will be able to find his own way back to the Pub!

Sound Of Silence!
Telling me to get back to work and me actually arriving behind the desk is not a foregone conclusion as far as i can tell as my focus is purely on recovery at the moment. Primarily i would rather be healthy than working regardless of the consequences. I'm off tonight to do a talk on the lofty subject of Meditation i ain't got nothing original to add to the mix. My new Sponsee thinks i am good at Meditation what came into my mind at the time wasn't that i am good at it but that I'm persistent and deeply deeply don't want to return to the Spiritual wasteland i was inhabiting until recently. Someday's Meditation is accompanied by chatter and a Brass Band in my head and other days i get the most profound insight. Should i tell him? Me thinks not let him find out for himself!
radiators from space - ghostown [320]
2nd album by this Irish Punk band who famously had Phil Chevron in its midst. He who went on to greatness as a member of that Celtic institution the Pogues. Ghostown is a concept album about the sense of social and cultural isolation felt by many Dubliners throughout the 1970s. A bit lofty for a Punk band but believe me its excellent especially "Song of the Faithful Departed"!

longpigs - mobile home [320]
Second and final album by a band i really liked especially their other album "The Sun Is Often Out" mores the pity some might say, but if they hadn't split would the magnificent Richard Hawley have gone on to record such great solo albums...who knows. Anyway dig out his album "Coles Corner" it's the Dogs!

Lonely Hearts Pub Band!
Spent just over 4 years now on my own [pretty much] in a relationship sense and don’t see it coming to an end in the near future. Got quite lazy really and like the freedom to just do what I want when I want and not have to worry about someone else’s feelings or needs. What I lack at the moment is Female input to soften the edges of this often harsh existence. Women are not hard to come by so I’m told and I guess it’s true as I witness some desperate pairings in my travels. The Fellowships are about the worst place to observe the needy in action at times it quite funny and at other times extremely tragic.
One of the truest things i ever read about inappropriate and futile relationships [been there done that] and had a permanent impact on me was something along the lines of “The real issue is not that you spend time with the wrong person, it’s that you have successfully blocked out the right person”. Anyway that’s my main reason for waiting or is it just my fear masquerading as knowledge..... Think I need to find out!
herman's hermits - herman's hermits [320]
Debut album by a very succesful 60's act. additional info the band was managed by Mickie Most whom i was living a couple of hundred yards away from. In 1990 i took part in the now Legendary Poll Tax Riot in London on Saturday 31 March shortly before the tax was due to come into force in England and Wales. A great day out this is sometimes remembered as the Battle of Trafalgar and lead to the Poll Tax being abandoned. Why i here you ask was i there that day...simple i wasnt paying the same Tax as a man living in an £8,000,000 house...OK!
