Holidays in Irelands answer to Hollywood

I'm off for a well earned rest to my favourite place on Gods Earth for some family, fishing, camping, climbing and lots and lots of rain. So no blogging til i get back [Sept 3rd]. Going to give some thought on how to defeat these shits who keep removing my links......if anyone has any ideas i would really appreciate the imput. I have 30,000 +++++ albums and want to share them with everyone as music needs an audience.

icicle works - seven single deep

Does what it says on the packet gives you seven singles by a band who in the early 80's emerged along with other New Wave and New Psychedelic bands like Echo And The Bunnymen and Tear Drop Explodes. Not sure why these guys weren't bigger give this a listen and see what you think!

hollies - beat group

One of the best of the UK early 60's bands who as far as i know are still going strong half a century later. Pretty impressive as is this album which gives you a much broader insight into the band. I do like this fact Graham Nash said "We called ourselves The Hollies, after Buddy, and Christmas."

manic street preachers - live @ reading festival 27th aug 1994 [bootleg].

One of the last Manics Gigs with Richey Edwards before his mysterious and still unresolved disappearance in the locality of the Severn Bridge a notourious suicide spot. I think the Manics though still a great band did lose some of their edge with Richey gone!

scritti politti - white bread black beer

24 years after their formation Scritti released this top drawer album in 2006. I don't know if its the best thing the have done but it must be pretty close. Anyway i like to get down to  "The Boom Boom Bap"!

symarip - skinhead moonstop

Symarip were one of the first UK skinhead reggae bands, targeting skinheads as an audience with hits like "Skinhead Girl", "Skinhead Jamboree" and "Skinhead Moonstomp"[based on the Derrick Morgan song,"Moon Hop"]. Still on the road after over 40 years i guess "These Boots Were Made For Stompin"

ten years after - recorded live 1973

After the piss poor start to the football season by both Arsenal and Celtic i have a mighty urge to go and hide back in the glory days of 1973 along with Alvin Lee and the boys. This is a very good album by the way!

judge dread - bedtime stories

British White Reggae Legend delivers his usual fine blend of Light Hearted and Sex Obsessed songs, but don't for one second under estimate his Talent as for the record ''He was the first white recording artist to have a reggae hit in Jamaica, and has the most banned songs of all time''.

muddy waters - electric mud

After having his work brought to the wider world by a lot of the 60's bands who cited him as a major influence the Crowned King of the Chicago Blues hit the studio in 1968 and recorded this Psychedelic Masterpiece. Just give a listen to his cover of the Rolling Stones "Let's Spend the Night Together" . This is exactly what Jimi Hendrix's dad would have sounded like!

jimmy castor bunch - butt of course

A band who appear to be hopelessly  addicted to big assed women and Funk Music sounds like a good combination and it all comes together nicely on "The Bertha Butt Boogie (part 1)" !

sid vicious - too fast too live

Compilation of Sids solo work which lets be fair is a mixed bunch to say the least. Anyway he was the face of Punk Angst and for that alone he deserves respect. More respect due to him being in the most vital band of the Generation without being able to play bass. Famously Lemmy who had tried to teach him once stated, "Yeah he [Sid Vicious] still couldn't play bass when he died." Now that Rocks!

thee hypnotics - come down heavy

Thee Hypnotics managed to pass through the music scene with very little recognition for their effort. This is from 1990 but sounds very late 1960's with lots of obvious comparisons to the likes of MC5, Iggy & Stooges which can only be a good thing!

Fabulous Poodles - His Masters Choice

New Wave band with big aspirations styling themselves on such greats as "The Who" and "The Kinks" so not a lot to live up to. They even managed to get John Entwhistle to produce one of their albums. Anyway their quirky beat has disappeared into the history books. So its up to us to give it one last airing!

fugs - golden filth [alive at the filmore east]

Bunch of Hippies playing live around the time of the death of the Free Love Culture [i missed out by being 8 years old]. Most famous for their participation in a protest against the Vietnam War in the late 1960s, during which they allegedly attempted to encircle and levitate the Pentagon. You got to enjoy the bands humorous lyrics about sex, drugs, and politics!
