a few 1,000 of my favourite things

This blog is just to let the world know what’s been rocking my boat over the years [comes with a certain Irish bias and interesting world view]. If your struggling at the game of life like the rest of us try and remember there’s always music!

Listen Up Me Hearties!

Heading up to the local AA meeting tonight i sense their disapproval of me coming out of their pores and had a thought yesterday that going there actually detracts from my well-being. So I’m definitely going as it’s this type of thinking that kept me isolated and just where addiction wants me to be totally alone and listening to my own head. In the main the folks are very welcoming to me though there is some friction from a few of the comrades but I had a big hand over the years in those mutual resentments. Only real issue i have with the meeting is it is focused too much on war stories and not on recovery, which to me is the only show in town. My old stories never stopped me drinking and theirs have no chance but it just seems to be the way a lot of the meetings pan out. The only solution I know paradoxically is to go to more meetings and mind my own business as AA with all its faults is the greatest show on earth and I personally owe it and all those attending my life. Anyone for an old Sea faring tale of how I nearly drowned off the coast of Wexford after starting drinking on land…should get a couple of laughs!
