Throwing Some Shapes!

Off to do a talk at an AA meeting tonight on Step 11 which is to do with prayer and meditation guess they wanted an idiots guide. Anyhow i wasn't sweating it and was going to listen to a few AA talks on the subject matter and pilfer the good bits for later only to find that my whole collection of 100's of talks has gone from the computer. Not sweating that either just yet as i got some recovery software which might locate them. So now i have to go and do the talk with just my own experience to fall back on and between me and you the most enlightenment i can throw on the subject would be the effects of not practising these disciplines on a sober Alcoholics quality of life. That should get them on their knees if nothing else can. Meanwhile i am back in the grove on these 2 disciplines for now!

kat flint - dirty birds [192]

Assume The Position!

Go to an NA meeting every Sunday which starts with a 10 minute guided Meditation and can honestly say it’s the most rewarding experience. Now I already know that and have been using a daily Meditation for several months which has been instrumental in getting my head out of my ass and into the moment. So can anyone explain why as the benefits are felt in every department of my life my commitment to the discipline [a few minutes a day] is wavering all over the place. I have a feeling it’s my Addict resisting wellness pure and simple the little Bollox wants me dead. As recovery does not use terms like could, should, right or for that matter wrong i’m just going to give it a go today and reap the rewards. Pity you can’t stock pile recovery as i will need a bit extra tomorrow when i go and face the Management at work though in reality i haven’t given that situation a second thought!

daevid allen - now is the happiest time of your life [192]

Unclassifiable music here part Psych Rock a bit of Space Rock [who he?] and loads more lets say it's interesting. For God And Arsenal!

I repent for all the nasty comments i made about the Arsenal all season as that was one of the best games of football i have seen in years. Just to beat the ancient enemy would have been unbelievable but to be 0-2 and then to win 5-2 is utterly astounding given current form. So in amends for my poor behaviour in the past i am going to try seriously to not pick up resentments at people in the street just because they are badly dressed or have an odd shaped head [or body]. This should free up some brain space to uncover the real reasons for my dis-ease with life. Although things with me are better and i am mighty chilled i would still benefit from an inventory of my resentments and fears [step 4 style] so i can continue to progress. I do want to be Spiritual i just can't help the enjoyment of watching those B*****d'S getting pummelled today!

spacehog - resident alien [192]

Debut album and high point of a short lived UK band although it sounds American to me even if they say their music is heavily influenced by David Bowie, Queen, and T.Rex [3 of the finest].
it's a fine album probably had its moment in 1995!

chris de burgh - spanish train and other stories [320]

1975 release and by far [for me] his finest album. Infact i am not a fan at all but do think this is good maybe its my age but i still enjoy "The Painter" and "I'm Going Home" and would struggle to find a low quality track on this record!

kraftwerk - techno pop [remastered] [256]

You can't beat the Krauts for getting all those notes to march along in line so splendidly. This album was universally panned on release in 1986 by critics and fans alike and i do hope they have mellowed by now cause its really quite good!

You Could Tell At A Glance, When He Took Up His Stance!

Gave my blog address to my mate yesterday [first one] and in hindsight it may have been a mistake as i found myself trying to qualify things i had written and had a bit of anxiety over things i may have written. Now he's going to know that all those high powered business meetings and appointments i attend are really me sitting like a sad C**t in an Internet Cafe and as he is a master of the dark arts of advanced shaming tactics [lord knows i should know i taught him] i can expect abuse. Prime example would be the endless stream of abuse he gives me whenever i wear my favourite Ganzie i think i strike an elegant figure in it whilst Sean says i look like i have special needs. Obviously my man has issues about the Jumper and is trying to control me into binning it through shame. He has sucked all the fun out of the Sweater and the only enjoyment i get from wearing it anymore is purely to annoy him. I think i will post a picture of it and you can decide its merits or lack of. Anyway speaking of Shaming Tactics my Ex Wife wants the blog address, she's not getting it and i didn't think she could read anyway!

supremes - a' go go [192]

Diana Ross, Mary Wilson, Florence Ballard became the first all Fenmale groet to No.1 with this album when it came out in 1966. Comprising of several covers of established hits and one or two original songs [one]. It is may i say sheer quality!

UK subs - revolution's here [192]

It's not, you know it's not, i know it's not and no one else cares. Sadly i have waited my whole life for revolution and seen a bit of stone throwing action [quite a lot actually] but i guess the Man has won so lets just enjoy the music and reflect on what might have been!

sting - complete chicago sessions [bootleg] [320]

Drinking Poison And Waiting For The Other Person To Die!

Not sure what the purpose of writing this little piece everyday is supposed to achieve, though i can see that it has a very therapeutic effect on me which is a major bonus, Oh yeah I remember the purpose was to make money and so far I’ve amassed zero. Thankfully once I took the action and started blogging it will like all things in life go where it wants and if I take an open mind approach and not even worry about outcomes all will be well, in fact better than well as Peace Of Mind is priceless and not likely to be achieved through money. So it’s onward and upward letting go of the past, don’t fear the future and live in the now. Here is a thought for today deep resentment [mine have involved thousands of man hours] is like carrying the person you dislike the most on your back all day. Spiritual solution pray for their Health Wealth and Happiness everyday for 2 weeks and you will be free of this horrendous burden. With a bit of luck they won’t get any of those things anyway!

wind in the willows [feat debbie harry] - wind in the willows

Yes indeed it is Debbie Harry so i am left to conclude that before Punk she obviously was a long hair and i always thought one of the golden rules of Punk was to Never Trust A Hippy. I don't care care one way or the other but all this raises one question i need an answer to what age exactly is this Sex Goddess given that this release is from 1968?

1. Moments Spent

Sunlight Of The Spirit!

Sun is shining brightly here it must be well into the 60's degrees that is [not talking about the dodgy fashion sense] after such a prolonged cold spell it has got to be Global Warming. I feel like going out there and letting off a few aerosols to try and increase the hole in the ozone layer. If these conditions continue Ireland will soon be in line with what everywhere else gets instead of just different levels of damp. So I'm out and about been round several Garden Centres had a nice lunch and attended an AA meeting. Heard a great simple and humble chair which showed me the way ahead. I could tell the guy was open and could see how closed i had been over the last several years. Example being that yesterday passing through a shopping area a pretty lady smiled at me and a moment later i thought i think my life would be a lot better if i didn't automatically glare at people. To late for that brief encounter but no knowledge comes easy and i can see the purpose of the way i have been behaving namely keeping people away and removing the opportunities for emotional pain. Also removes all other opportunities and as i settle more into recovery i don't really require these defences anymore!

gravy train - staircase to the day [256]

A seriously good Prog Rock band who gave us 4 splendid albums between 1970 and 1974 before heading off to God knows where they could all be dead or working in Tescos [not sure which is worse] but i could find no real up to date info on any of the band. This is their final album from 38 years ago so they may not be coming back...pity!

karine polwart - scribbled in chalk [256]

combichrist - today we are all demons [192]

I don't shy away from good music [and this is very good] just because of other peoples opinions and don't buy to much into the recurring themes of of misogyny, murder and suicide in the lyrics, though lets be honest they are certainly topics i'm up to speed on. They also have a sort of Paramilitary thing going so they'll fit in nicely round these parts!

1. "No Afterparty"
2. "All Pain is Gone"
3. "Kickstart the Fight"
4. "I Want Your Blood"
5. "Can't Change the Beat"

State Of The Nation!

Nothing earth shattering to report got a lot of free time at the moment and not doing a great deal with it other than down loading music and sitting in Starbucks. Fortunately I’m a bit better organised in the evenings and have lots of stuff going on what with my meetings and a few meals. Also been hitting local Theatres and watching some good Plays. In fact going to one on about a Serial Killer who is given a Lobotomy it’s called “Frozen” sounds loike a barrel of laughs. Speaking of Mental Health what i really need at the moment is to get hold of a brand new AA member to take to loads of meetings and introduce them to 12 Step Recovery. Don’t be mistaken here I’m not bad trying to be good what i have got is a Spiritual Malady which responds only to Love and Service. Thankfully spending time with the new man has perks as whilst I support and encourage them my focus is off me [Hallelujah] and my unfulfillable wants [needs are always looked after]. Plus I never ask anyone to do something in recovery that I’m not doing so I get to sharpen up my act. End product for me is a chance to get myself back into Grateful living. For them if they do what i was shown comes the same opportunity if they don’t, can’t or won’t I’m not sure of the outcome but it’s likely not to be pretty. Either way i still gain now that’s what I call a good deal!

immortal lee county killers - love unbolts the dark [192]

Described as Fucked up Blues and the Real Punk Blues and taking aking influence from Robert Johnson, John Lee Hooker, Pussy Galore, MC5, Skip James, Bad Brains and The Gun Club and with long dead Dylan Thomas doing the intro there is really nothing left to be said other than enjoy!

Top drawer song writing by this sometimes Actor sometimes Country Singer and always entertaining. Surf And Turf!

Was talking to my boss at work regarding my future i have no idea who was the most deceitful and smarmy but it was a close call. Anyway they are keen to try and off load me through their attendance policies and i will have to go along with whatever they suggest which is likely to include a visit to their Doctor for assessment as to my fitness to carry out my duties. I haven't met him but apparently he is a reasonable and fair man  by the name of Mr Mengele, Joe to his friends. No worries to a seasoned veteran like me as i will be laying out my case as simply as possible namely that the current state of my health has been brought about by their failure to support me in my role which i have acknowledged in writing from their HR dept. It is not going to be as easy to shift me as the Suits might hope as i'm a tough auld bollox and enjoy a good tussle. Thats some of the realities of today running paralell with this is my recovery which means loads of AA & NA meetings, a pray up, meditation and service and letting go of the resentments relating to the above. This part of my life is in the assendancy and i may well return to work in the near [not to near i hope] future and knuckle down to the Job!

an emotional fish - an emotional fish [256]

ashford and simpson - solid [remastered] [320]

With Ashford dying last August it's now just Simpson which is a pity as they were a couple and a long standing Disco act who supplied us with the mighty track "Solid". The pair were very distinguished song writers as is apparent throughout this solid album!

Was down the Unemployment Exchange this morning nearly lost the will to live just walking past the front of the building and i could see a queue like something out of the cold war just on the other side of the front doors. Waited my turn and was directed to a bank of phones and after some shit music was connected to Daniel who though upbeat provided me with very little information. Left none the wiser so got no choice but to deal with the companies HR department to find out just what to expect in my pay packet on the 28th. I always need fall back positions first one is the few hundred pounds tax rebate i got last week which will see me through if i only get half pay, second get the info together to make a claim, third and least likely return to work. Anyway aint worried to much as AA experience tells me im well looked after and just going to go up to Starbucks and chill for the afternoon and use their wifi to download some more music!

A mixture of Irish Rebel music and what i would describe as Sea Shantys and Hymns gives you a bit of an insight into the lack of any understanding our American brothers have of the ongoing Political Struggle. However the songs are played and sung with heart and that's good enough for me!

Sorry To Hear Of Your Loss!

My amorous reverie yesterday was quickly destroyed watching the emotionally draining display provided by the bunch of tired sad sacks that now comprise the once mighty Arsenal. Made only bearable by my man for the job of Arsenals next Manager steering his second rate team [at least on paper] to a thoroughly deserved win. Whinger was left at the end philosophising over some missed penalty decision and obviously oblivious to the disastrous state of play at the club. Give Martin O'Neill half the resources Wenger has it is disposal and he would inspire his men into action instead of standing lamely on the touchline looking like a lost Pallbearer...Amen!

Hidden Treasures!

Ran into my beautiful ex on the way here and we had a coffee and it was great with some heart felt respect from both of us and much flirty banter. On the way down the road after i was a bit thrown by the experience and using my new found Spiritual approach to life i just thanked the powers that be for the experience and strolled on contented. Five minutes later in my fantasy head Anna has phoned me up and asked is it ok to come up the house to see the boys, after lighting some candles and tidying up she arrived and on the settee we had a little kiss and cuddle. Noticed strangely that there were no boys present so we made love five times [not 4 but 5] on the rug. Snapped back to reality and had a bit of a laugh at me auld noggin' playing tricks as per usual. I'm not really a well boy and was definitely sewing seeds [wishful thinking] when i asked her did she still have the Diesel Thong i loved so much, she didn't tell me but did say that it was probably with the rest of her knickers which i had stolen. God help me but i do have a modest collection of Womans underwear from my previous incarnation!

Empire Strikes Back!

Hardball time has begun from the Man his rep's want to see me to discuss my Sickness either at the Office or bizarrely Starbucks. will probably go for the Starbucks offer as i can make a quick exit from there and they can't corner me. Still got to be on my best behaviour and fend off any pretend concern about my well being with equally pretend concern about how i feel I've let everyone down...etc etc etc. Hope they forget to bring a Medical Professional [as i am] along to the meeting as it will be a straight forward affair then to direct all queries regarding my health to my Doctor....thank you and goodbye. Might bring along a Union rep just to protect my interests. Good news is that they have clarified my entitlement s to sick pay and there is plenty of scope there for manoeuvre and i could keep this ball in the air for the best part of this year!
